General Information

Shady River features new, quiet, private "get-away" cottages on a bluff overlooking the beautiful, clean, spring-fed, free-flowing, un-polluted Eleven Point River, in the eastern-most Ozark Mountains of northern Arkansas. Away from even the smallest town, we offer peace and quiet, with as much, or as little, activity as you want.

An early morning walk on one of our nature trails will generally give you a chance to see rabbits, many types of birds, butterflies, dragonflies, and sometimes white-tailed deer, wild turkeys or bald eagles. Later in the morning you may want to enjoy a float trip down the river, or try your hand at some fishing. On the river you may see Great Blue or Green Herons, minks, or perhaps an Ozark Hellbender.

After lunch might be a good time for a nap, or some swimming, or a short trip to enjoy one of the many area attractions within an hour of the cottages.

Over three miles of mountain and meadow trails are great for walking and most are suitable for the electric kart which is supplied with each cottage.

Better than a cabin, each "tiny house" with free Wi-Fi internet for use with your laptop, is provided with all furnishings and amenities for complete living, including phone and air conditioning. A soaking tub is found on the private deck in back of each cottage, all nestled into a cedar grove on a bluff overlooking the boat landing and the beautiful clear water of the Eleven Point River.

Shady River offers picnic sites, a one-eighth-mile long island, gravel bars, and a profusion of plants and wildlife, and a clear night sky for stargazing away from city lights.

Shady River provides a canoe, kayaks, and tubes, along with the necessary personal flotation and safety devices. Due to insurance regulations, all equipment, including the electric kart, is for use by Shady River registered guests only.
